Yesterday, Sarah and I attended our first Pickup Party at Indigenous World Winery. A little over a month ago my brother and his partner were visiting from Toronto and we took them on a West Kelowna wine tour which included Indigenous. We had a fantastic tasting experience and left absolutely in love with a number of their wines. My absolute favourite is the Red Fox Rose! We were so taken that the Membership Club pitch was a no-brainer: commit to buying a half a dozen bottles once in April and again in November and save 15% on al of it and everything else you buy! We took our April shipment home that day (with an additional 4 or 5 bottles) but were still invited to the pickup party with all the other members.
There were delicious h'ordeuvres and of course ample wine tastings. We tasted a handful of wines we had not tasted on our last visit and possibly a few that we had before settling on purchasing a glass each of the Simo Small Batch Red to enjoy while we mingled with other wine lovers and listened to the live music. The Simo, crafted by winemaker Jason Parkes, is a Bordeaux blend made from the finest Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that grow in the Okanagan Valley and has been aged in 100% French Oak barrels for 42 months.
